Marketing Campaigns Against The Consumer
“People.. especially people in positions of power.. have invested a tremendous amount of effort and time to get to where they are. They really don’t want to hear that we’re on the wrong path, that we’ve got to shift gears and start thinking differently” ~ David Suzuki
- Environmentalist and Scientist famous for: Being an outspoken environmental activist, for hosting a number of successful television programs that focus on science and nature, and for publishing more than thirty books.
Many consumers do not have a clue about what they are up against when they challenge the internet marketing world.
Consumer rights and consumer voices are irrelevant to many SEOs and marketers.

Consumers Union - Non Profit Publisher of Consumer Reports
Tuesday, July 1st, 2008What is The Consumers Union and what can it do for you?
“Consumers Union (CU) is an expert, independent, nonprofit organization, whose mission is to work for a fair, just, and safe marketplace for all consumers. CU publishes Consumer Reports and ConsumerReports.org in addition to two newsletters, Consumer Reports on Health and Consumer Reports Money Adviser with combined subscriptions of more
than 7 million. Consumers Union also has more than 500,000 online activists who help work to change legislation and the marketplace in favor of the consumer interest. Since its founding in 1936, Consumers Union has never taken any advertising or freebies of any kind. The organization generates more than $160 million in revenue and a staff of more than 500 work at either CU’s 50 state-of-the-art labs in Yonkers, NY; its 327-acre auto test facility in East Haddam, CT.; or the three advocacy offices in Washington DC, Austin, TX, and San Francisco, CA.”

Rise and Shine Consumers!
Friday, June 27th, 2008I was just sending good morning wishes by way of a good morning wish application in Facebook. I receive a lot of them and haven’t had time to return one for a while. Always something else to do it seems.
The application allows us to send ‘wishes’ (like photo-cards with messages attached) to 20 of our friends at a time.
(If you are a Facebook user, and would like to view the application, you can do so here.)
The beauties of this application:
- It shows 20 people that you’ve chosen them out of possibly hundreds of friends to wish a good morning
- The message area allows you to personalize your morning well wishing with plenty of text space to announce your wishes for them
- It allows you to upload your own images to use as your wish card, as opposed to sending the pre-given ones
It’s my belief that marketers have a tendency to focus on what they can ‘get’, not what they can ‘give’. This mindset is literally ruinous.
