The Two Faces of the Ethical Coin

Is Li Evans talking out of both sides of her mouth?
Is she discussing ethics vigor because she uses it as a means of gain?
Do loyal readers and followers equal job security for her?
When I think of her and many others, the first thing that comes to mind is “Greenwashing“.
“attempting to preserve and expand their markets or power by posing as friends of the environment.”
On a personal, behind the scenes note, I don’t trust her farther than I can throw her. She has shown herself to be two-faced.
Ethics? Ha! If you say something contrary to what she is promoting (or ‘gaming’) she exits you stage left for fear of being exposed. Can’t have that.
I won’t name names here, because I really do not want to get into the he said she said drama. but, ethics is not her forte’. She’s done everything she can to make me and my blog suffer because of our behind the scene issues. She’s brought the posse out, because they know that I got fed up with bogus, manipulative, callous, greedy people like themselves, so they have chosen to talk more about ethics and goodness and wholesomeness, because there’s a part of them that feels threatened by me, this blog, and the people that I may expose them to.
Says Li,
“The companies I chose to highlight wanted active conversation, true audience engagements and
honest reviews…”
“I believe with every ounce of my being, social media is about conversations and sharing…”
“Social Media is about conversations and the opportunity to share experiences through those conversations.”
Give me a break.
Now she’s over at Search Marketing Gurus (website) talking about ethics too (June 26th 08).
All of a sudden, now that I’ve aired some anger and named names at my other site Yicrosoft Directory Girl some time ago, they are all in a frenzy to make themselves look like such good guys all at one time.
If you are going to talk the talk, walk the walk. ONline as well as OFF. Don’t just fill my ears with, “I’m so appalled at the ‘gamers’ yet use your words to ‘game’.
Find another sucker.
Is it ethical for me to talk this way? or will you say that I am unethical due to my tone?
Decide for yourself, which is most ethical?
Truth? or Bologna?
Ask Li how much she has to gain or lose? She’ll give you large financial number, not to mention the fame and glory of being a conference speaker, and SM enthusiast that ensures her paycheck.
She’s paid to manipulate you. She convinces you of her expertise, kindness, and balance, which she promptly uses to receive links and converts. She’s even paid to manipulate her fellow marketers, but then again, they don’t seem to mind cause they are all doing it to each other, keep that in mind.
These people are paid well for their talk. They HAVE to stick together. They have more to lose.
Me on the other hand? I am not paid. I do this all day long everyday because I like it. I can’t get enough of it. It is a passion and a thrill. I am a philanthropist by passion because I learned that it’s one of the only ways to expose injustices without them having that leverage to say its for some sort of gain.
Gain what?
The satisfaction of making people see that anyone can learn SEO. Marketing. Social Media.
It is not only for an Einstein or a so called guru.
YOU Have the Same Learning Tools Available to You as They Have!
Do you know how THEY learned online marketing? There has been NO offline colleges for SEO/M or SM. Everything you need is at your disposal WITHOUT their pats on the back. Think about that!
There’s millions of links out there but those who want to learn how to make a search engine friendly website typically do not know how to research it properly. They are at a loss. And the marketers know this. They only give you ’so much’ to go on…if they gave you the silver platter without your having to work for it (kiss *ss) they’d have an influx of marketers stealing their thunder. Raising the ratio of competition for them. And they know it.
Duh.
Why pay these people a bazillion dollars to do a job that could cost you half the price or nothing if you had the time to do it yourself?
I was too kind to fight them until I was treated with such two faced manipulation by these users and abusers that I couldn’t keep my mouth shut..
When I first began seeing the light, I saw that I was being used for everything I was worth so they could get traffic and kudos.
You are a ‘conversion’ or a promoter for them, never forget that. If you are submitting their posts in social/voting environments, you are their toy, their worker, their slave. They will give you a link or two as long as you are being a good little boy or girl and never DEBATE them on ANYTHING. If you do, they will gang up on you like you were enemy of the state.
When I began this journey of revelation where they are concerned, I was sitting pretty and had a lot going for me, if you consider superficiality and *ss kissing something worthwhile. They knew I had potential because I came in innocent, kind and full of “Thank yous”. They suck that up like starving drug addicts, because they see you are the type to easily buy into their slavery program. They see your sincere gratitude for any scraps they throw your way, so they give you just enough to keep you in check.
If you’ll notice, they tell you how to flatter, how to use commentary as a means of manipulation, link as manipulation, everything is manipulation.
You do not need their crap talk to optimize your website, gain subscribers, traffic, or conversion of any sort. You need education. And in the next few months, I intend to make this blog a resource station so you can do just that. Anything I can get my hands on that is legitimate and educational will be set in my blog as perma pages.
Video tutorials, glossaries of search terms, white papers, PDF’s, images, and various other forms of FREE - WITHOUT obligation tools. I’m fed up with them and I am angry and I am certain that it is obvious at this point.
But you know what? A year from now, this site will be one huge free resource center, unless they find a way to shut me down.
I come from the street. I’ve seen their greed for more than 20 years now. They are no different than hungry wild animals. They are only capable of showing you ‘love’, if you have something to offer them. Traffic, loyalty and possible conversion. Disagreement with them is considered uncalled for and they will smack you down at every opportunity for the world of internet to see. But they also do it in sneaky ways. Underhanded. Me? I call them out. Them? They fortify themselves by way of IM’s emails, direct Tweeting, and ways that most of the public doesnt see, then they will make YOU look like the bad guy in the eyes of the majority.
They know that their voice will be heard as authoritative. So it doesn’t take much for them to call the dogs on you.
Do I have ulterior motives? Not financially, but yes. I hate injustice. When Bill Slawski and I were dating, his friends didn’t like me and we tuffled behind the scenes over a few of those things because he has loyalty for them. Job-wise and simply because I’ve p*ssed him off. I hate being lied to. It’s simple as that. Tell me an awful truth, and I’ll forgive you. Lie to me? You’ve just scored yourself an enemy. Mind of a Scorpio I guess.
Am I emotional? Yes. Is that beside the point?
Yes.
I’m not the bad guy. I fight them, so that people who read this blog will see that they can be successful without fortifying someone else bank account at the expense of time and energy that is already difficult to come by.
Do yourself a favor. Build your business, your knowledge base, your own abilities. Do not let them convince you that you need them in order to be successful. unless you are greedy too, then by all means, go for it.
Are all Sphinners and friends of Liana Evans greedy hungry wads of landfill? No. I’m sure some of them are just blind to her and people like her. We all want to believe a smiling face, successful pockets, and talk from the mouth of a supposed ‘guru’.

It’s my blog and I’ll rant if I want. Fortunatley for those who see my point and take me seriously, this blog is going to become one h*ll of a resource if I can help it. Screw them and thier greed.

I don’t know the story you are writing about.
I love your passion and sense of justice. We need much more of it in the blogosphere I think (otherwise I think we’ll end up being regarded as the used car salesmen of the 21st century - and we all lose (so this isn’t entirely altruistic)).
Josh Spalding did a good post on the basics of SEO. His idea is that it comes down to external links from your blog and links between posts on your blog.
