Learn SEO: Keyword Research Tools
By Kimberly Bock | January 2, 2008
In optimizing keywords for META tags, we briefly touched on the use of keyword tools.
I am going to focus on keyword tool resources on this post.
There are plenty of access to free keyword tools as well as paid models out there. I have had the pleasure of experimenting with quite a few recently.
Keyword Research Tools
DazzlinDonna over at SEO Scoop held a contest on Dec 17th asking what search requests we may have for Santa? And, it just so happened that I won 2nd place. Well, long story short, I received a 30 day free trial period for the Wordze keyword tool. And let me tell you, it has so much to offer. Here’s a few items which it addresses:
Wordze Keyword Research Tool

*Import keywords from existing projects and inspect their search count or search for multiple keywords.
*Dig into the search engines to see what other keywords people are optimizing for
*Download saved results from your keyword research or search engine digs.
*Learn what it takes to rank in the top 10 with WordRank!
*Research historical keyword trends by month and day.
*Check a website’s keyword density, then use it’s keywords to find more keywords with our keyword database
*Thesaurus and more!
My next keyword tool suggestion would be Trellion’s Keyword Tool
Trellion Keyword Discovery Tool

Here’s a run-down of this nifty little gadget:
*KeywordDiscovery compiles keyword search statistics from over 180 search engines world wide
*Keyword Research
*Industry keywords
*Spelling mistake research – because there’s many a mis-speller out there looking for what you have to offer but are unable to find you because they can’t spell! So, it’s wise to optimize around these as well!
*Seasonal Search Trends
*Keyword density analysis
*KEI Analysis (keyword effectiveness) and more!
*It’s also offered with a free trial period.
And of course, not to be overlooked is Word Tracker. This is one of the more popular one in use.
Word Tracker Tool

*They provide you with the free trial period
*Email tutorials on how to properly utilize the tool for greatest potential.
*You can find a limited free version of this tool for a test drive to feel it out here.
And for the finale here’s a list of a few starter keyword tools that are free to use as needed: (more extensive versions of a couple are at cost)

There’s always more information regarding keyword research in the ever growing phenomena of SEO/M.
As I come across trustworthy tools, I’ll keep ya posted.
Til then,
Happy Learning
