The SEO High School Anthem
By Kimberly Bock | April 4, 2008

Donna Fontenot (DazzlinDonna) of SEO Scoop allowed a newb to occupy a seat on her blog for a guest post. I was impressed by that.
Note her opening statement to his post:
“The following post is a guest post. SEO Scoop endeavors to showcase and highlight guest bloggers, in the hopes of giving up and coming bloggers and SEOs a chance to shine. Please take some time to appreciate their efforts by visiting their sites, or by networking with them.
**SEO Scoop does not necessarily agree with or condone any tactics mentioned by guest posters.** “
When a guest spot is offered by an A-list blogger like Donna, the writer becomes more visible and their message is typically well received by other quality bloggers. Fellow newbs being equally impressed are hopefully driven to improve the quality of their posts, so as to optimize their chance of getting the same opportunity. (for more responsible reasons too I hope!)
It can be a great opportunity for some of the newer ones in the blogosphere to recieve recognition by other bloggers.
(This is a subject that I had addressed in “Are You the Underdog in Sphinn? Where’s YOUR Vote?” (Sphunn here with plenty of commentary) Yet another example of what happens when a newbie blogs on a better known site as opposed to blogging from his own ‘backyard’.)
Donnas guest poster, Vince Blackham, made the frontpage of Sphinn within a day.
A new friend of mine, Ken Jones of SEOpsCentre, says SEOs are like high schoolers. He describes us to a T.
I’m a huge music fiend that believes there’s an absolute perfect song that goes with everything.
Ken defined our high school roles, now we need a school song, which Donna has inspired.
The SEO School Anthem
Well, I nominated this one:
But it looks as if there’s been additional input by Makakman and Ken so here’s the other options:
Makakman’s choice:
Bill Slawski’s addition:
Read Vince Blackham’s “Make Sure Your Links are Legit (5 Easy Steps)” At Donnas SEO Scoop. It’s short and sweet but a job well done.
Until later, have fun learning SEO!

Donna’s offer is amazing for newbies! I swooped on it and was lucky enough to have my post accepted. It also made the front page of Sphinn and was listed in Search Engine Watch’s news of the day. How else could I get exposure like that in my first couple of months of blogging? I’m already planning my next article for SEO Scoop.
Donna rules! All newbies should jump at this offer.
